A baby abandoned in a landfill, authorities confirm that it was…
Residents of an apartment building in Saint-Étienne, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, were shocked by an awful discovery on the night of Saturday, March 23 to Sunday, March 24, around 4:30 a.m. They heard noises that sounded like a baby weeping and, upon investigating, found blood stains.
Horrified, they traced the blood trail to the building’s trash room, which led to the basements. The cries and blood suggested that the infant had just been born, prompting the neighbors to call emergency services immediately.
According to Le Progrès, emergency personnel from the Départemental Fire and Rescue Service of Loire (SDIS) and a team from the Loire Samu were dispatched to the scene. The infant, who was hypothermic and still had the umbilical cord, received prompt medical attention from one of the physicians. According to France Bleu, the infant was healthy and their life was not in jeopardy.
An inquiry was started, and on Sunday, March 24, the infant was taken to the CHU of Saint-Étienne and remained there for care.
