A little cafe in my town has this on their menu and it’s always been a favorite of mine!
A classic comfort food, Bread and Butter Pudding is a delightful dessert made with stale bread, rich custard, and warm spices. It’s a perfect way to use up leftover bread.
Ingredients:
Ingredient | Quantity |

Bread slices | 8 |
Raisins | 1/3 cup |
Cinnamon | 2 teaspoons |
Milk | 1 1/2 cups |
Heavy whipping cream | 1/4 cup |
Eggs | 2 large |
Granulated sugar | 1/4 cup + extra for topping |
Butter | 2 tablespoons, softened |
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish.
- Remove bread crusts and butter each slice.
- Layer half the bread in the baking dish, followed by raisins and cinnamon.
- Add the remaining bread.
- Whisk together milk, cream, eggs, and sugar.
- Pour custard over bread.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until set and golden.
- Sprinkle with extra sugar (optional).
- Let cool slightly before serving.
