Donald Trump’s state visit to the United Kingdom has attracted a lot of attention and amazement in a short period of time. At Wednesday’s state banquet, a detail in Melania Trump’s outfit caught everyone’s attention.
US President Donald Trump traveled to the UK on Tuesday for a state visit with his wife, Melania Trump. On Wednesday morning, the president, accompanied by First Lady Melania Trump, met with King Charles, Queen Camilla, Prince William, and Kate Middleton.
As many might have expected, the Trumps’ visit has been the subject of much discussion and has been widely reported around the world. However, perhaps the most attention-grabbing moment came at the state banquet hosted by King Charles at Windsor Castle.

Melania Trump chose an outfit whose details have now caused people to rub their eyes in wonder. Melania arrived at the evening gala in a yellow dress adorned with a large pink belt at the waist.
As photos from the dinner spread on social media, a heated debate arose over whether Mrs. Trump’s dress was bright yellow, light yellow, or a butter yellow. There was also debate about the color of the belt, with some perceiving it as purple and others perceiving it as pink.

However, stylist Liz Teich, interviewed by the Daily Mail, notes that the outfit appears differently in the photos due to lighting and image editing. According to the stylist, the actual color of the dress is mustard yellow. The belt, on the other hand, is actually lilac.
The discussion on social media became even more heated when the royal court published an official photo of the royal couple and the presidential couple at the dinner. In the photo shared on the royal court’s Instagram account, the colors of Melania’s outfit appear to be what the stylist confirmed them to be in reality.
The choice of outfit divided opinion, and commentators did not mince their words when discussing it.
“What on earth is Melania wearing…,” one person wrote, whose comment has garnered thousands of likes.
“That dress goes perfectly with her husband’s jaundice,” another joked.
“Didn’t anyone give them instructions?”
A third wrote, “That belt is just… no. I may be wrong, but isn’t it inappropriate according to etiquette to have bare shoulders at an event like this,” while a fourth added, “Bare shoulders at a state dinner??? WTF? Didn’t anyone give them instructions? And that color…”
Some commentators believe that Queen Camilla and Melania Trump’s outfits may have been a deliberate choice. Camilla wore an elegant long blue dress.
Blue and yellow are the colors of the Ukrainian flag, so many people interpreted the wives’ choice of outfits as a statement in support of Ukraine.
