This classic cake is simple to make and delivers a delicious, moist result.

Homemade Granny Cake

Ingredients:

For the Cake:

Ingredient Quantity
Sugar 1 1/2 cups
All-Purpose Flour 2 cups
Baking Soda 1 teaspoon
Salt 1/2 teaspoon
Eggs 2 large
Crushed Pineapple (with juice) 1 (20 oz) can
Brown Sugar 1 cup
Pecans (chopped) 1 cup

For the Icing:

Ingredient Quantity
Evaporated Milk 1 cup
Sugar 1/2 cup
Unsalted Butter 1/2 cup
Vanilla Extract 1 teaspoon

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Mix dry ingredients: Combine sugar, flour, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl.
  3. Combine wet ingredients: Stir in eggs and undrained pineapple.
  4. Prepare the pan: Pour batter into prepared baking dish. Sprinkle with brown sugar and pecans.
  5. Bake: Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  6. Make the icing: While cake bakes, combine evaporated milk, sugar, and butter in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, remove from heat, and stir in vanilla.
  7. Assemble: Pour icing over warm cake. Let cool before serving.
